ABOUT

Blaisdale Montessori School, established in 1969, carries the distinction of being one of the pioneering private Montessori schools in Canada. Over its long history, it has grown into a respected institution that is not only recognized for its commitment to Montessori education principles but also its unique connection to Mrs. R. Montessori herself. One of the school's principals (Ms. Heather Wilson) was directly trained by Mrs. Montessori, an honor bestowed upon very few in Canada.

Today, the school operates seven campuses across the Durham Region in Ontario, with locations in Pickering, Scarborough, Ajax, Oshawa, and Bowmanville. These campuses collectively form an educational network that provides a rich, comprehensive, and inclusive program to communities far and wide, including Toronto, Markham, Stouffville, Clarington, and Port Perry. This broad geographical outreach signifies the school's commitment to making high-quality Montessori education accessible to as many children as possible.

Blaisdale Montessori School caters to a wide age range, from infants to school-aged children, starting from 12 months up to grade 8. This broad spectrum allows the school to nurture students through the critical stages of development, setting strong foundations and guiding their progress through the years.

Beyond the confines of regular school hours, Blaisdale Montessori School is a bustling hub of activity. It offers an array of extracurricular activities to enrich its students' learning experience. In addition, the school provides before and after school child care services, a testament to its commitment to supporting families and their varying needs. Holiday programs are also part of the school's offering, ensuring a continuity of care and learning throughout the year.

Among the many goals Blaisdale Montessori School strives to achieve, several core values stand out. These include fostering a love for lifelong learning, developing self-discipline, promoting self-respect, encouraging independence, and teaching the importance of harmonious social interactions. The school also works to nurture a social conscience in its students, inspiring them to take the initiative, concentrate on their tasks, build self-confidence, and grow spiritually.

One of the essential elements of Blaisdale Montessori School's approach to education is its emphasis on environmental care. Students are taught to value and respect the environment, understanding their role in its preservation.

In terms of discipline, the school adopts the Adlerian approach, a methodology that respects the dignity of the child while promoting the concept of self-worth. This approach, rooted in respect for the child and others, aligns perfectly with the Montessori principles, creating an environment where children feel valued, respected, and empowered.

Blaisdale Montessori School is more than a learning institution; it is a community that nurtures the holistic growth of its students, setting them on a path to a successful future while staying true to the Montessori philosophy.
